When "Modify events" is turned on, I can use the mouse button as keys with keyboard modifiers BUT the speed becomes half the speed, it's not a lag because the movement is smooth it's just half the speed.ZDNET's recommendations are based on many hours of testing, research, and comparison shopping. These shouldn't even rely on Karabiner as I'm not touching any of these buttons or keys with it. I have 2 mouse buttons mapped to Left and Right via USB Overdrive, previously on Catalina, I could use option+mouse button (remapped as left) to send the singal option+left, now that doesn't work. When I turn off "Modify events" for all the (Overdrive) devices, my mouse speed is as expected, but I can no longer use the mouse button as keys that can be modified by my keyboard, i.e. I also have USB Overdrive for my mouse (Evoluent VM4) to remap some of the buttons as keyboard keys. I also have a similar issue since updating to Big Sur from Catalina. I solved the issue by uninstalling USB Overdrive and using Steermouse to remap my mouse buttons disabled modifying mouse events in Karabiner and now it works as before without lag, and I'm able to use the mouse buttons and modify them with my keyboard. Right now my uptime is 24 days with 1014 instances in Activity Monitor. Update: this solution possibly creates 2 other problems: Successfully tested on razer naga pro in bluetooth mode (but not with usb dongle). For mouse-specific binds, use VirtualHID (Overdrive) vendor and product ids (not those of your mouse) I have 4 such devices, it works if all but one certain toggle is ON Play with "Modify events" toggles for VirtualHID (Overdrive) devices until there is no lag.Disable "Modify events" for your actual physical mouse. ![]()
